Best AI Security Tools compares the AI security tooling landscape with numbers — detection rates, false-positive rates, and the inconvenient findings. Here's how we work.

By Daniel Park · · 8 min read

Best AI Security Tools exists because the AI security tooling market is full of demoware — products that look great in a 5-minute pitch and fall apart against a real attack library — and almost none of the public benchmarks are run by people who don’t have a financial relationship with the vendor.

What we publish:

Side-by-side comparisons with shared methodology. Same attack library, same target system, same metrics. Detection rate. False-positive rate on benign traffic. Latency at the percentiles operators care about. Cost per protected request at realistic volumes. The methodology gets published; the artifacts get published; the raw results get published — including the inconvenient ones.

Category coverage. LLM input/output scanners and guardrails. Prompt-injection detectors. Jailbreak filters. Adversarial-ML libraries and evaluation harnesses. Red-team frameworks. AI-aware WAFs. Model-supply-chain scanners. Each category gets its own benchmark methodology because the failure modes differ.

Vendor responses, in full. When a vendor disagrees with a result, we publish the disagreement and our response. We don’t pre-clear results with vendors before publication.

What to actually buy. “We tested ten of these and three are worth your money” is more useful than “here are the features of all ten.” We’re willing to make recommendations and to revisit them when the products change.

What we don’t publish:

Affiliate links exist on this site and are disclosed. Editorial coverage is not influenced by affiliate relationships — when the worse product pays better, we still recommend the better one.

Bylines are pseudonymous. Tips, vendor responses, and methodology corrections to the editor.

Real coverage starts shortly.
